Yes! Akademisk kvart is aimed only at students. If you, as a landlord, are unsure, we recommend asking for a study certificate from your tenant.

In order to make sure that the person expressing interest in your housing is a student you can request a certificate of registration or a notice of admission.

Akademisk kvart is run non-profit and is an initiative to flatten the curve of high sublease rents in Stockholm. Many of the larger actors apply calculation models based on market rents – which has led to Stockholm today having more than twice as high sublease rents as the rest of Sweden. We apply rent caps to give students the opportunity to find housing that suits the general student's economy.

The academic quarter began to be used at a time when students generally did not have their own pocket watches, so they relied on the church bells striking every full hour. In the old university towns of Uppsala and Lund, almost everyone lived near the cathedral. When they heard its bell strike, for example, eight times, it was time to leave home and still be able to make it to the lecture on time. Precisely when the academic quarter began to be used has been difficult to determine.

An inviting ad is essential. Make sure to include pictures of the property and use the ad text to paint a picture of what you are offering, or if you will be living together – who you are!
