Thank you, and welcome to news!
Introducing our new News page, where we'll share housing tips, platform updates, and the stories behind our work to make student living in Stockholm a little easier.

Attending a viewing is often a decisive step in your housing search. This guide is for students attending a viewing for the first time or those who simply want to feel more secure in the process. We’ll go through what you should look out for, what questions are reasonable to ask, and how to assess if the home and rental terms feel right.
For many students in Stockholm, the viewing is the first opportunity to actually meet a landlord and see the home in person. It is also your chance to ask questions and get a clear picture of what you are agreeing to.
Since many students lack experience in the housing market, it can be difficult to know what is considered "normal." This might include:
Being prepared before a viewing reduces the risk of misunderstandings and makes it easier to make a confident decision.
At Akademisk Kvart, all advertisers are verified with BankID, and ads are manually reviewed by us. However, the viewing itself and the contact between the student and the landlord happen directly between you. Therefore, it is still important that you ask questions yourself and ensure everything feels clear.
Note: We are always available to answer questions, but we do not replace the dialogue that needs to take place between you and the person renting out the home.
While it’s natural to focus on the "vibe" of the home—which is important—try to also pay attention to practical details:
If you feel unsure, it can be a great help to bring someone with you. An extra pair of eyes can spot things you might miss and provide a different perspective on the property.
If the landlord is okay with it, you can also take a few photos during the viewing. This makes it easier to compare different options later and remember details that are easy to forget.
If you discover that the information in the ad does not match reality, it is important that you contact us.
Use our "Report Ad" function to alert us to any problems. By reporting, you help us maintain a safe and reliable platform for all students. We always perform a new assessment in such cases, for example, if a rent is no longer considered reasonable or if the arrangement doesn't match what was advertised.
If you feel uncertain, get in touch with us. We can help clarify terms and provide guidance on what is reasonable to expect.
Please note that we do not offer legal advice, but we are happy to share general knowledge and experience regarding the student housing situation in Stockholm.
